With the Spring semester's beginning, we write jointly to remind the university
community that use of our common resources -- our classrooms, labs, offices, and
public spaces -- is subject to rules aimed at protecting the liberty of each of us
to teach, learn, work, live, and engage in political expression. Rights of protest
and demonstration are both protected and governed by rules of appropriate time,
place, and manner, crafted collaboratively by faculty, students and administration,
in accordance with First Amendment law.

In particular, we remind all that the following campus rules are fundamental to our
respectful and vigorous life as a community diverse in beliefs, interests, and
activities. These rules will be enforced as we embark on a season of renewed
discussion and debate concerning the path forward for Berkeley and higher education.
We expect the full compliance of faculty, staff, and students.


311. The University has a special obligation to protect free inquiry and free
expression. On University grounds open to the public generally, all persons may
exercise the constitutionally protected rights of free expression, speech and
assembly. Such activities must not, however, interfere with the right of the
University to conduct its affairs in an orderly manner and to maintain its property,
nor may they interfere with the University's obligation to protect the rights of all
to teach, study, and freely exchange ideas. These regulations purport to assure the
right of free expression and advocacy on the Berkeley campus, to minimize conflict
between the form of exercise of that right and the rights of others in the effective
use of University facilities, and to minimize possible interference with the
University's responsibilities as an educational institution.

312. These regulations provide authorization for certain uses of University
facilities, and establish procedures for such authorized uses. Such uses must
conform to these regulations, Berkeley campus and University policies, and state and
federal laws that may protect or regulate matters of public expression on the
Berkeley campus.

331. The Sproul Plaza and Lower Sproul Plaza have traditionally been designated as
areas for public expression. These areas are open to the public generally between
the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight. Between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.,
these areas are generally closed to all activities except coming and going to a
University building or crossing the campus. During open hours, Sproul Plaza and
Lower Sproul Plaza may be used without reservation for discussion or public
expression which does not require or involve sound amplification equipment. Space in
both areas may be reserved through the Center for Student Leadership for use by
recognized campus organizations or non-University groups in accordance with facility
use regulations and established office procedures. However, use of these areas for
discussion or public expression may be limited when such use interferes with the
orderly conduct of University business or authorized events.



I found it amusing, but thats to show what its like here, when protests happen so often that they assume well be at it again

so, now im taking

intro to psychology

statistics

the next computer science class (CS will prob be my major)

and an english writing class

knee injured still so ill skip soccer this semester. But im tryin to play dodgeball and maybe volleyball. We wil see how that goes.

And i got an interview for the Resident Assistant position, that too we will see how that goes.

so they have this magazine here written by students, its supposed to be funnny, and it is mostly, i dont get all the jokes, but heres a post.

Internationally renowned impersonators The Yes Men revealed at a press conference yesterday they have been impersonating internationally renowned impersonators The Yes Men for the past ten years.

"No one in the organization had any clue," said Yes Men spokesman imitator Mike.

"I think we've done a good job of exposing The Yes Men for what they are: a bunch of frauds," said imitation Yes Men spokesman imitator Mike.

The Yes Men are expected to release a video of their exploits later this year, which is certain to discredit The Yes Men while finally giving The Yes Men their due acclaim.

Anyway, they give them out free in the middle of campus, so take one if you want a laugh, all tho warning, not everything is funny, some stuff is just sick, others are dumb enuf to tickle.

i dont know if this will work, but from monday to friday, i now plan to set aside

a hour for each of the following
-math
-cs
-econ
-reading news/practicing chinese/spanish

i dont even know if i have that many hours a day, but ill try and see how it goes.

half the semester is over and im floating, if i wanna do really well......

i was looking thru the list of majors and the only majors that look interesting

-econ
-mayb psych



so i think ill take a psych class soon to see if i enjoy it, but for now gotta do well in econ and cs, lay a strong foundation so i can build on it easily

drama

so, u watch tv, and there is so much drama in high school,

she likes the guy i like, he is dating a few girls, shes flirting with him........

yeah it seems that it doesnt change in college, well at least not for freshman.

kinda sad, some ppl just fall in love? and cant focus on studying,

one theory is a lot of ppl are not used to seeing the oposite sex everyday and living so close to them,

another theory is ppl who didnt go to co-ed schools were never exposed to the opposite sex and now........

i think both theories r true, and now im so happy that i went to a co-ed high school and have been on so many camps with girls. so for me, nothing feels strange and im free to focus on school,

i like my life

concerts at berkeley greek theater

so, every now and then, they have concerts at the berkeley greek theater, and friday they had a jason mraz concert,

no didnt wanna spend 60 bucks, so we went onto a balcony nearby and listened from there (foothill dorm, they r kinda lucky, they can hear every concert for free)

these of course r the pirated videos, there r better ones taken by the ppl actually in the theater, just look for them thru these videos

poker

so, i have most of my fun from playing poker at the moment.

i play soccer IMs twice a week, and ref 2-3 times a week, but poker seems to give me the most fun, i think its cuz it goes on for a while, like risk.

anyway, so far, played 3 times for real (money), won (means left with more money than i put in) twice and lost (means lost all the money i initially put in) once. so net profit so far, pretty good.

gota get better at the game so i can enjoy(win) it more tho, gota start reading ppl and acting so ppl who try to read me get thrown off.

haloween comin up, darn i wanted to dress up as the joker, but there is a christian fall conference at the same time :( mayb ill dress up as the joker at the conference, would that be weird?
